Blair: bent as a three-bob note

According to the Mail:

"Tony Blair was accused of 'shameful' abuse of the expenses system last night after it was revealed that he claimed nearly £7,000 of taxpayers' money to repair the roof on his second home just two days before he left Downing Street. The former Prime Minister appeared guilty of an opportunistic milking of the system after his raid on the public purse was revealed by the full release of MPs' receipts."

Personally, I see this as small potatoes. The fact that he lied us into a war that killed a million people is what bothers me.

Just for clarification, what was the lie?

I was referring to the one about weapons of mass destruction, but there are others.

Which lie about weapons of mass destruction?

I'm asking what was a lie - as opposed to the exaggeration for effect of some intelligence that was held to be true by every major power at that time.

'Exaggeration for effect' in order to invade is lying, but if you want specifics, the fake documents about trying to buy yellowcake from Niger.

The memos have come out showing that Blair committed British forces to the invasion without any regard to evidence of WMD. It has also come to light that Saddam offered to leave Iraq on the eve of the invasion, but was told that it was too late and the invasion would go ahead.

Blair knew the stuff about WMDs was not true, which is why he started shifting the reason for invading towards regime change quite early on. He is a liar and a murderer. In the words of Dylan:

"And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead"
