The 'Good' Al Qaida

Yet again, we are confronted by the strange singularity of purpose existing between the hawks of Nato and their supposed arch-enemies Al Qaida. A statement from Ayman Al Zawahiri, the purported leader of the shadowy terror network, urges on the resistance to the Syrian government, as reported in the Guardian. This follows the well-known AQ involvement alongside Nato in toppling the Libyan government.

Given the monetary and ideological base for AQ has always been the West's favourite ally Saudi Arabia, and given the murky history of 'Great Game' subterfuge, this is not really surprising, at least to someone unafraid to be branded a conspiracy theorist. But for the simple-minded, who allow themselves to be led by the nose by the establishment media to see only one side of these complex issues, that being the side aggressively pushed by Nato and its propaganda outlets, such as the BBC, does it not make you pause for thought?

War drums beating louder for attack on Iran

How sickening I find it that our government is preparing to play its supine part in a wholly unprovoked act of war against a country that has never done anything to us. I can already hear the false piety of our politicians, justifying murder.

If Iran displayed even a fraction of the bellicosity that Israel and the USA shove in its face, the war would have already started.

Why is Ofcom banning Press TV?

It's a ominous sign: state broadcasting regulator Ofcom has revoked Iranian Press TV's broadcast licence, meaning it will no longer be broadcast on the Sky platform. This is supposedly over a breach of the rules incurred by an interview of an American journalist being detained in Iran, but given the leaked position of the UK Foreign Office, that seems a pretext.

Somewhere buried in the Wikileaks bundle is found an interesting statement from a FCO wonk to a US counterpart. From the Guardian:

While Ofcom will insist that it came under no pressure from ministers, according to the WikiLeaks cables, the Foreign Office told an American diplomat in 2010 that the government was"exploring ways to limit the operations of … Press TV".

At the time, the department warned the US that: "UK law sets a very high standard for denying licences to broadcasters. Licences can only be denied in cases where national security is threatened, or if granting a licence would be contrary to Britain's obligations under international law. Currently neither of these standards can be met with respect to Press TV, but if further sanctions are imposed on Iran in the coming months a case may be able to be made on the second criterion."

This is coming at the same time as a number of other moves by the hawks to attack Iran, most notably the ludicrous conspiracy theory of Iran trying to hire a Mexican drug gang to blow up a Saudi diplomat. If plans to strike Iran are well-underway, you can imagine that the Foreign Office would not want us to see the other side of the story, so better, in true, sneaky 'Perfidious Albion' style, to quietly scuttle Press TV before the uranium-tipped missiles start slamming into orphanages.

Another victory over Al-Fed-ieda

Hmm, so Rezwan Ferdaus was planning to attack the Pentagon with a model plane stuffed with C4? Probably quite hard to organise such a thing, especially the C4. Nevertheless, he must have been dedicated, as he managed to get a plane (from the Fed agent provocateurs) and he managed to get some C4 (from the Fed agent provocateurs), and no doubt managed to get a few bundles of cash along the way (from the Fed agent provocateurs).

I think I can guess the line his legal defence team will be taking.

The new bogeyman for the never-ending War on Terror

Paul Craig Roberts, writing at Infowars:

Have you ever before heard of the Haqqanis? I didn’t think so. Like Al Qaeda, about which no one had ever heard prior to 9/11, the “Haqqani Network” has popped up in time of need to justify America’s next war–Pakistan.

President Obama’s claim that he had Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden exterminated deflated the threat from that long-serving bogyman. A terror organization that left its leader, unarmed and undefended, a sitting duck for assassination no longer seemed formidable. Time for a new, more threatening, bogyman, the pursuit of which will keep the “war on terror” going.

Now America’s “worst enemy” is the Haqqanis. Moreover, unlike Al Qaeda, which was never tied to a country, the Haqqani Network, according to Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, is a “veritable arm” of the Pakistani government’s intelligence service, ISI. Washington claims that the ISI ordered its Haggani Network to attack the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, on September 13 along with the US military base in Wadak province.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of the Armed Services committee and one of the main Republican warmongers, declared that “all options are on the table” and gave the Pentagon his assurance that in Congress there was broad bipartisan support for a US military attack on Pakistan.

Barry, could you pass the salt please?

Big news, huh? Third-rate hack actor and US President Barry Obama has announced the death of super-villain Osama Bin Laden, and he's been buried at sea! I mean, that's what you do, isn't it, when you capture the most sought-after man on the planet; dump his body over the side of a boat before anyone's got a look at it.

As far as I was aware Bin Laden was dead back in 2001, and I don't trust a word Barry says. Stranger things have happened, no doubt, so there's an outside possibility that this may be true, but there's also the chance it's a stinking lie. Time will tell.

UPDATE: US forces may live to regret 'burying' Bin Laden at sea, if reports coming in from Somalia are to be believed. Apparently Bin Laden is alive, having emerged from the waves, claiming he had only been stunned when a bullet grazed his skull, and that the cold water had revived him, before a passing clam swallowed him up and deposited him on the shore of Africa. Vatican sources have dismissed suggestions that Bin Laden's escape could be a miracle attributable to the late Pope John Paul II.

Stuxnet: anatomy of a false flag attack

Remember this?:

“The very fact that Stuxnet exists shows that we can no longer pretend that a cyber attack on our critical infrastructure is hypothetical and hyperbolic,” declared Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee chairman Joe Lieberman in November. “You’re talking about a very well-resourced and structured adversary.”

Right Joe, I reckon we need to shut down the internet, it's scary all that freedom. I might learn something I shouldn't know. I might get something from a non-approved source, that would confuse me and lead me into thoughtcrime. But who, I wonder, is this 'very well-resourced and structured adversary' behind Stuxnet?

Yes, that's right: The US and Israeli military. Everyone with a functioning brain knew that, so I guess it's safe for the New York Times to report it, but to use it as the justification for clamping down on our freedom - you've gotta marvel at their wicked genius.

Swedish bomb: is that fish I smell?

“A Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) employee warned an acquaintance to stay clear of an area in central Stockholm on Saturday where, several hours later, two explosions went off in what is being called a terrorist attack,” reports The Local, an English-language Swedish newspaper.

The TT news agency obtained a copy of a text message sent to the military staffer. “If you can, avoid Drottninggatan today. A lot can happen there…just so you know,” it read.

Armed Forces spokesperson Jonas Svensson initially said he was unaware of the message but would be checking into its origins. Swedish military sources later acknowledged the authenticity of the message and said they were “preparing how the issue will be dealt with”.

Wikileaks: a pinch of salt required

Wikileaks has done some great work to put into the public domain a huge amount of information that the governments of the world would rather keep secret. I greet the various pronouncements of outrage from politicians with schadenfreude.

Nevertheless, we should not allow ourselves to be manipulated. There are many competing agendas within the murky world of diplomats and spooks. If a few renowned political figures get egg on their face, so what? As Bastiat noted, there is what is seen and what is unseen, and the latter is here more important.

L. Fletcher Prouty talked about the Pentagon Papers, and how it was presented and interpreted quite at variance to the reality. He said you had to have worked in intelligence to understand how compartmentalised everything is, and how, like an onion, there are many layers.

Unfinished business

I can only read Robert Fisk's summary of the Wikileaks release of documents with sorrow, horror and shame. I am convinced that the leaders of the last government, Blair and his coterie, must be brought to justice for their part in that damnable war. It is time we held to account these criminals who so abused their positions of authority in bringing about this wholly unnecessary war.

9/11: nine years of lies and never-ending war

It is my sober duty to point out to readers that I am one of those evil, crazy 9/11 truthers, who believes that something very different from the official story took place on this day nine years ago. I take no great pleasure in doing so. It's not an opinion I sought out, but rather one that forced itself upon me, when I realised some years ago, that I didn't want to think about it too much, that I was afraid to know the truth. This was intolerable to myself, as someone who believes that one's opinions should fit the known facts, and not the other way around. Resolving to look at the evidence with as objective a mind as I could manage, I was quickly convinced that the official version of events had more holes than a Swiss cheese.

Oh no, I must be one of those conspiracy theorists I've heard all about, spreading the mad bad contagion of counter-factual unreason. You see, it's my flawed psychology that makes me take an interest in such things as forensic evidence and the laws of physics, the string of coincidences, the many historical precedents for false flag atrocities and the criminal element deeply embedded in the American power structure, that smuggles the drugs and kills presidents.

So, I will not be spending the day burning korans or calling for Mecca to be nuked. We should remember the victims of that terrible day, and the first-responders who have suffered so much since, forgotten and spurned by the politicians who rightly lauded them as heros, now left with debilitating lung disease and no help to pay their medical bills. It does not lessen the monstrousness of the crime to question who did it.

There's something very fishy about Wikileaks' big story. The agenda seems to be:

1 Blame Pakistan
2 Implicate Iran
3 Continue the myth that Osama Bin Laden is still out there, hiding in the shadows

There's also the way Wikileaks has gone about releasing the information; hyping it for some time, giving it to selected establishment media, something ain't right with this.

Whitehouse considering intentional failings over underwear bomber

This report comes on the eve of a special White House interagency conference convoked by Obama to deal with the massive systemic failure of US intelligence in allowing the Yemen alumnus Mutallab to board the Amsterdam to Detroit flight while allegedly carrying a PETN explosive device on his person. "

"Obama and his advisors should be urged to consider a third explanation far more plausible than either of these.
