The headline that epitomises the New Labour era: 'New Rules'

New Labour. New rules. New taxes. New schemes to prey upon the public and suck the blood out of business, or what's left of it. According to this report from the BBC:

"From April, all businesses and public sector organisations that use more than a certain amount of energy must register for the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and, from next year, pay for the carbon they emit."

CRC? That stands for what, I wonder?

"The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) scheme requires businesses to cut consumption or face stiff fines."

And meanwhile Ed 'son of a red' Milliband, the Energy Secretary, warns that "recent rows over scientific data must not damage efforts to control climate change."

But Ed, you cunt, what you call a recent row was when the public learnt that the scientific data was a fraud. You can't just carry on as if nothing's happened. Oh, sorry, my mistake, you can. Ed says:

"It's right that there's rigour applied to all reports about about climate change but I think it would be wrong that when a mistake is made it's somehow used to undermine the overwhelming picture that's there."

Rigour? A mistake made? Well, I suppose you could call it a mistake. They got caught committing scientific fraud. As for the overwhelming picture, it ain't overwhelming once you realise that it was painted by the fraudsters.

The plane bomber and what they're not telling you

The Nigerian nut was put on the plane at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam with the assistance of a 'well-dressed Indian man', who managed to get him past security although he didn't have a passport. Who was he?

Another man on the flight was seen video-taping the whole journey. Who was he? Why was he filming the flight?

The passengers were not evacuated from the plane. Why not?

A second passenger was arrested at the airport, after a sniffer dog found something in his bag. The other passengers were then moved to another location, after being told it was not safe where they were - the implication being there was another explosive device. The FBI have denied that a second man was arrested. Who was this man? Why are the FBI denying this arrest?

And, importantly, why is the mainstream media ignoring all these fishy facts? Yet again, the MSM has proven itself unwilling and unable to do its job of informing the public and holding the authorities to account. Instead we are given a narrative, to soften us up for more war (the drums are beating to start escalating involvement in Yemen), and less rights (everyone must be photographed naked if they want to fly).

Climategate: The Naked Lunch

William S. Burroughs described the meaning of his book's title thus:

"NAKED Lunch - a frozen moment when everyone sees what is on the end of every fork."

Climategate is such a moment. Now we can see amongst the corporate media which ones see their job as informing the public, so that we can make up our own minds, and those which follow the party line, pushing a PR message, giving us a 'narrative'.

The BBC is one of the most influential corporate media entities in the world. It poses as the dispassionate, high-minded, liberal voice. But the BBC is no watchdog for truth. Rather it plays the part of a crooked gatekeeper. To this crooked gatekeeper many messengers come, but only some of them can gain entrance.

Of this matter in question - Climategate (a term, I dare say, from which the Beeb's hacks would recoil in horror) - it is true that the BBC has reported the story - but what have they reported?

Exhibit A: The house 'Environment Analyst' uses an 'inside sources at CRU' line and shills to the mighty heavens in their favour.

Exhibit B: An enquiry into the circumstances of the leak is announced. Apparently:

"BBC News understands that senior individuals at UEA have acknowledged the potential damage to the university's reputation from the CRU affair and are anxious to clear the institution's name."

So, this is what they've reported:

the existence of a news story, but not the news story itself.

A newsworthy event has taken place, and the BBC acknowledges this, by reporting some of the reaction to this event; specifically the reaction of insiders at the CRU - those most implicated in the event, and the reaction of the CRU's higher authorities - also implicated.

But it won't cover the story. It won't sift through the thousands of pages, and it won't report what others have found whilst sifting, and the reason is clear why it doesn't:

Because it doesn't fit with the PR narrative the BBC is selling. It thinks its got all the middle classes worrying about recycling and wittering over their carbon footprint - WHY THROW THAT ALL AWAY by telling the people anything that could induce thought thereby shattering the pretty picture?

George Marshall at the Guardian is doing his bit to patch up the damage to the myth of man-made global warming armageddon. Peering down from the monastery, he writes:

"The lay public, when presented with confusing data and competing arguments about climate change, deploy the mental shortcut of believing the people they most trust. Trust in the communicator is therefore crucial."

'The lay public'? For a moment that raised my hackles, 'arrogant twit' I thought, then I realised he means it literally! The Church of Climatology is a religion now, so we really are the lay public.

Climate change sceptics who have studied the emails allege they provide "smoking gun" evidence that some of the climatologists colluded in manipulating data to support the widely held view that climate change is real, and is being largely caused by the actions of mankind."

Climate Cult stalls, but watch for the bait and switch

To the sound of wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst the eco-loons, Obama has spoken, and his very words leave the Copenhagen summit hopes in tatters. This is indeed welcome, due to the demoralisation it will cause to the lemming legions, but we shouldn't celebrate too long. This may mean only that the deals will be made behind closed doors with little fanfare over a few more weeks and months, while everyone who opposes them is standing down.
