The secret treaty we should all be shouting about

From Mises Daily:

ACTA: The War on Progress, Freedom, and Human Civilization

A clandestine international treaty is currently being negotiated among parties including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, the European Union, Japan, Singapore, and Morocco. It can justly be called the greatest threat of our time to the advancement of human civilization. Considering the magnitude of the other abuses of power pervading the world today, this might seem an exaggeration, but the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) contravenes every principle of civilized society, both in its content and in the nature of the proceedings leading to its creation.

It threatens to undo the accomplishments of the great Internet revolution and to thrust humankind back to a time when individuals had no public voice and no countervailing power against politically privileged mercantilist institutions. ACTA tramples on essential rights that have achieved even mainstream recognition: innocence until one is proven guilty, due process, personal privacy, and fair use of published content. Moreover, because of its designation as a trade agreement, ACTA could be imposed on the people of the United States by the president, without even a vote of Congress...

Max Keiser in 'Fall of the Republic'

Here's Max giving his take on the criminal bankster oligarchy, from Alex Jones' new documentary 'Fall of the Republic'.

IMF fire sale. Everything must go!

Apparently the Tories are getting ready for another round of privatisations, in order to 'balance the books'. This is being portrayed as some kind of change of direction, which is not at all the case, as the current government has continued privatising with the same fervour as Maggie in her heyday.

So, the government borrows money from the central bank, which makes it out of thin air and hands it over. We the idiot taxpayers then have to pay the interest on this money. The government then gives this money in the form of a 'bail out' to the private corporations. The government being so close to broke by this scheme and unable to borrow any more, then sells off everything it can lay its hands on to the private corporations, who buy up anything of value with the money the government gave them. Then we end up paying the interest for the borrowing and whatever additional charges for using the assets that once belonged to us.

Okay, I may not have that exactly right, but the underlying principle is correct: We, the common people, are getting fucked in the arse.

The Bank of England seeks more power

Owning the British government, and being able to print as much money as she pleases isn't enough for the cankered Whore of Threadneedle Street. She craves still more power. Likewise, her infernal sister in America makes the same demand. So reports the BBC:

"The US central bank, the Federal Reserve, will be given the authority to monitor major financial institutions."

The Federal Reserve, a private institution owned and controlled by the Wall Street banking cartel given authority to monitor its owners! And this is represented as a policy of Obama, when it was called for by the then NY Fed boss, now Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner a year ago, straight after he left the Bilderberg meeting in Chantilly, VA.

What the Bank of England and the Federal Reserve need is not more power, but to be dragged into the light. Central bankers are the authors of the current world crisis - a criminal cadre of monopoly capitalists. They sit atop a pyramid of human misery and pronounce it good. They must be smashed.

In America, the people are beginning to rise against the unconstitutional oligopoly of the Fed. The spirit of Andrew Jackson is stirring - the President who stated his finest achievement thus: 'I killed the Bank'.

Pyramid economics

British Gas has a very simple strategy: when wholesale gas prices increase, they put up their prices to customers, and when wholesale gas prices fall, they put up their prices to customers. In a free market, that would be a recipe for failure. But the gas market is not free, it is, as the energy regulator noted, an 'oligopoly' of six major companies, who do not compete, but collaborate to screw their captive public for every penny they can. According to the Independent, reporting the company's £260 price hike:

'British Gas managing director Phil Bentley said: "We very much regret that we have had to make this decision at a time when many household budgets are already under pressure.'

Yeah, I bet he really means it, too. If it was down to me, I'd be tempted to re-nationalise, on the basis that a publicly-accountable monopoly is less offensive than a private cartel, but of course our government, which has the power to cross continents and wage wars, wouldn't be allowed to do this. It has given away all true sovereignty to global corporations that are above the law.

Stop me if you've heard this one before

A month ago with much wringing of hands British Gas told its customers that, unfortunately, it was going to have to put its prices up. The decision was followed by other suppliers taking similar actions, thereby revealing the supposed free market as little more than a rigged cartel. This week Centrica, who own British Gas, will issue its full-year results for 2007 and is expected to announce record profits.

State-controlled monopolies are not perfect by any means, but handing control from the state to the corporations does not correct the imperfections and indeed adds many more.
