It had to happen, didn't it? Somebody complained to the police about that article in the Daily Mail about that popstar who died. I was not inclined to comment on the matter prior to this moment, being of the opinion that freedom of speech means that the columnist can write what she wants, and if people want to complain or organise against her or her employers, that's all fair enough.
But it wouldn't be today's poor, benighted England if someone didn't get the police involved. Presumably somebody's feelings were hurt and that's a crime these days. It's pathetic, really.

Interesting debate they had about free speech as a result though (on Channel $)
When pressed on the inconsistencies around free speech at the moment - basically it amounted to: we make it up as we go along.
