Peter Hitchens draws my attention to this Newsnight discussion. Ignore the rest of the programme, which is tiresome in the extreme, but if you turn to 31:15 you will see what I think is the only contribution from Hitch.

Not many speak of individual responsibility, only freedom.
The two are inseparable. The managers of the Big Government hate both together.
